Powerhouse Generators, 5 Brush vs. 3 Brush I have both a 5 brush and 3 brush powerhouse and I was wondering what the pros and cons of these are.
Thanks! |
Re: Powerhouse Generators, 5 Brush vs. 3 Brush the 5 brush uses smaller brushes ---the 3 brush brush holder was sold as replacement for the 5 brush assembly -----some have cutout on the side---some have a bracket for slotted adjuster arm ----functionally same ---use one with commutator running true when running on it's own shaft, ---many have been turned off center causing the brushes bounce

Re: Powerhouse Generators, 5 Brush vs. 3 Brush Both have the same output, but the original 5 brush used more wire in the field windings, so it took a tiny bit less power away from the output. I always wished Ford had used the powerhouse for all years of the Model A.
Safe continuous output is 15 amps, and a bit more if you leave the back cover off for better cooling. |
Re: Powerhouse Generators, 5 Brush vs. 3 Brush Thanks for the info.
