Locksmith needed! I have removed the entire spare tire and mounting bracket from my 35 coupe. I need an old school locksmith to remove the spare tire from the mounting bracket and make a key for the lock. My local locksmith was of no help. My physical location is in Beaufort, SC. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I will be attending the Barners Bash in Florida at the end of February and can also bring this with me. |
Re: Locksmith needed! I know a locksmith here in Irmo that could probably do it. He cut a new door key for my '40 by feel.

Re: Locksmith needed! If the lock is not broken a good locksmith can pick it open and then make a new key to fit. Not cheap but, very worth while.

Re: Locksmith needed! I've been down the same road.I found an old school locksmith that could make a key by "impression" but the problem was finding a blank. It has to be the correct length, height, width and have the grooves in the right places.Mac's sells them for $6 each.My advice would be to order a few blanks first and find a good locksmith second.Ford spare locks were made by Hurd from 1932-1948(so says the Mac's catalog). If you know some 32-48 owners nearby, you might try their key. There wasn't all that many patterns in those years. My friends 64 Corvette door key would unlock my 55 Chevy truck. No,I didn't steal his car.
