HELP: 30 Station Wagon Owners
 

Help: Can an owner of a original, or restored like original, 1930 Model A Station Wagon take photos (different angles, including bottom) and measurements of the rear corner brackets (D Pillar).

I am able to purchase a reproduction, but want to make sure it is a great reproduction bracket (like Henry made it).

These are not mine so I don't know the exact year/application or dimensions. They're just some pictures I found on the internet years ago.

I did purchase the reproductions after seeing your photos. It seems the reproduction is very faithful to the original, except it does not have the holes drilled. Now I need to figure out the size of the holes for each area. Your photos were a great help. The reproduction seems to have the marking were the holes went. I know have to figure out the size. Thanks again!

I'm glad you found brackets like the original. I attached a couple of pictures of what I made for my wagon, not original but they seem to work. I'm curious, what did you pay for your brackets?
You probably already know this but if you take one of the pictures from my first posting, that shows the hole placement and size, and paste into a word document you can easily enlarge or shrink the picture to match the full size piece. That should give you an accurate size and placement of the holes. I've done this many times on various items. Just be sure to only enlarge the picture from the corner so that the length and width proportions stay true. And depending on the size of the part you may have to print on legal size, 11x17, paper.

My wagon is a long way from completion. I hope to have the paper work squared away with the BMV soon. After that my hope is to work on it again.

I am in the infancy stage. I have collected many of the parts and have a good supplier for the body. My chassis is finished and the Cowl has had all the rusted panels replaced. I started with the chassis with Title and maching chassis and engine for a 1930 Station Wagon. These Wagons are a Labor of Love. The Woody Wagon Club and Tim Johnstone are a great source of information.

Your corner iron looks to be a piece of angle iron. Henry's version is a bit more elegant. It has a bulge at the bottom corner that tapers up. Also, the corners at the top should be rounded and the top edge is rounded, also.
When we restored our early '30 Wagon, we "visited" three Henry winners that were within a couple hundred miles of home. We also joined Woody Wagons, which is a special interest group of MARC. Their newsletter is top notch and about 40 lbs of back issues are available for purchase. That includes most of the original drawings of the wood. It made doing a "correct" restoration a whole lot easier.
The easiest car to take pictures of is at the MAFFI Model A Ford Museum at Hickory Corners, Michigan. I'd recommend you make a visit and bring along your camera or smart phone.
Baring that, you are welcome to visit "Kingsford." He is always up for a photo shoot!
Although "he" has no creds (we drive Model A's and don't do the pedigree thing) Kingsford is a pretty decent example -- for a car with replacement wood. Right now he is in storage in DeKalb, IL. Even so, if you want to drive up I'd uncover him and let you crawl around and take pictures. The floor is chilly, but clean!
