Rotor to dizzy body gap I have not been able to establish the recommended .025 between body to rotor gap. I have changed bodies, rotors and both at the same time. They vary as much as .020 - .060 at each of the 4 points within the same distributor. The distributor has no play in the bushings. My only thought is that the bushings were reamed off center. The suggestions of fellow members would be appreciated.

Re: Rotor to dizzy body gap Find an original body. For a period the reproes were not set up correctly or they were warped.

Re: Rotor to dizzy body gap Put the unit in a vise and adjust each gap by either bending the rotor or filing the point in the body to achieve the proper gap. Found out the hard way that the body is not very accurate they very in length. Luckily there was no damage done when the rotor impacted the body during start up. Had to buy new rotor and body which had the same problem, so I adjusted them this time and everything worked out great after that.

Re: Rotor to dizzy body gap What arnhemmer said. I've done that, it takes time. But I like the gaps to be pretty close to the same and I like the gap small, .020" or so.

Re: Rotor to dizzy body gap After you set the body on and before you put the cap on see if there is any movement of the body if you twist it back and forth. Usually there is. I always put my bodies on and give them a twist counter clockwise (either direction is fine) and make all my adjustments to the rotor gap then. After that when ever I put the body back on I give it a twist in the same direction and lock the cap in place.
