Is it OK to lift a '39 Ford using frame lift

I believe the best way to lift my convertible off the ground is with a "Ramp" lift where all four wheels are on the two ramps and a huge hydraulic cylinder lifts it well off the floor. I have seen other lifts that have four adjustable arms with metal pads at the end of each arm that lift the car by using the car's outer frame edges.

My question is this an acceptable method of lifting or should it be avoided like the plague? Thanks!

I lift mine (39) by frame in front and by the rear axle housing. This takes a little more effort with my in ground single post lift but car is more stable .

I've lifted these early Ford's many times using lifts that have extending arms that locate under the main frame rails.
Locate lift pads as rockfla suggests....in the four strengthened areas where center X member extends to meet the frame rails.

IMHO,,as an 80some old barner, these frames were so well over-designed that you could pick them up with jackstands without making damage.
But, as an engineer, am willing to discuss with other withdooms.
