Oval speedometer I have a 1931 roadster. The very rusty gas tank was replaced with one that takes the older instrument panel with the oval speedometer. Instead of putting the older instrument panel on the tank the newer one was fitted using the top screws only. It works but does not look right. This is not a show car, just a driver. My question is if I put the older instrument panel on, will the oval speedometer work with the current speedometer cable?

Re: Oval speedometer Yes it will.

Re: Oval speedometer Doc oftentimes the reproduction dash panels won't fit quite right, making the bottom two screws not lining up like they should.
Best to let that part ride don't try to force a screw in those two bottom holes you will booger it up. |
Re: Oval speedometer I think that Synders model A has and cable to adapt older speedometer to newer drives and also the other way. Gary

Re: Oval speedometer Hay the 31 speedometer dose not take the same cable as the 28/30 oval. But if you wish to place the 28/30 speedometer in I can change the hook up to take the new cable for the 30/31. I can rebuild your old oval with the changes or sell you one that has been changed so it will work in the oval panel and hook up to the 31 cable. Email me at [email protected] for more info.
