looks like the front frame rails are pinched in. i cant guess why, but i have had lots of farm wagon frames and never seen that before.

I'll take a stab at this: Hydraulic brakes so 1939+. Heavy frame so perhaps 1 ton+.It's certainly not passenger car.
Perhaps measure the wheel base for us? Maybe find the serial number???

Kube, believe the brakes are cable, not hydraulic.

Re: Any idea what tis frame is?

Definitely not a passenger frame- it lacks the large 'X'.

Maybe a commercial with passenger car axles? But then.. Didn`t commercial trucks have parallel leaf springs in the back?

If your lucky the wide fives are 18" instead of the normal 16" ones.

It's a wierd one, It probably was something made up from parts that didn't go together originally. The frame looks commercial but has a deep drop in the centre. A farmer could have spent a couple of days welding that up from whatever was handy. The front U bolts are inverted, the rear has coils added (only one showing).

Mart.

How about a Lincoln with the body cut off? Looking at the front and rear crossmembers it appears to have been built with those.

I REALLY need my eyes checked. You are correct.
Yikes, I'm calling the doctor now.

From 42 up yes. Front and rear parallel springs.
I’m with Mart, looks like a conglomeration of parts.

I could be totally off base, but didn't the Zephyr have a hypoid rear-end? This one looks conventional to my eyes, though at the angle it may be impossible to tell for certain.

We have a winner.

It was for sale on the HAMB a couple of years ago:

Self energizing, too.

Re: Any idea what tis frame is?

Thanks Rich, that arrangement looks very modern! :) To bad Ford didn't switch over sooner to both hydraulics and self-energizing. I understand Henry's resistance to hydraulics because he didn't use it first, but don't get the Lockheed vs Bendix. Did Henry have a personal issue with Bendix?
