1950 ford custom convertible Good day
i have a 50 convertible coupe that has a tattered convertible top as well as broken frame with pieces broken and missing. is there anywhere that i may be able to buy a complete frame and top assembly? Right now can't get the broken frame to allow the top to go up. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks |
Re: 1950 ford custom convertible Welcome. Until the fellows who may know the answers show up consider tagging your name with your general location. Transporting a chassis can be considerable. There are experts to help with your top frame.

Re: 1950 ford custom convertible The 49-59 Ford/Mercury association https://www.fordmercassociation.com/ does not have complete top assemblies, but they have many very hard to find parts for the top mechanism and re-manufacture some that are commonly broken. 614-905-2151

Re: 1950 ford custom convertible And if you end up buying different top frame , search for 1951 one. Its much more rigid and weatherstripping is great compared to -49 or -50. I have one in my -50.

Re: 1950 ford custom convertible The 1944-1952 Body Parts catalog shows a diagram of your 1950 top mechanism on page 305. You can obtain a copy of the book at C&G (800) 266-0470. Ask for V44, $52. It will guide you on what you need, and where it fits. Finding a whole top assembly is unlikely as salvage yards for early cars have mostly disappeared. Convertibles are a limited production type, making such parts scarce, to say the least. It took me over a year to assemble parts for my '47 convertible, and we had to make many of them in our shop.
