Re: Tool Size?

the square heads of the front and center main bearing bolts are 9/16". You need a 9/16 eight point socket wrench.

Re: Tool Size?

I used an 11/16" 6 pt. impact socket

Re: Tool Size?

I just hold the bolt and unscrew the nut, which is 3/4". This is easier, and more critical when tightening the mains as tightening the bolt has a lot of friction so you don't get a true torque measurement or feel.

Re: Tool Size?

21/32" Is the proper size. As others say they work with other sizes..

Re: Tool Size?

Lindy has it correct. 9/16" 8 point socket is best. 9/16" open end wrench will also work.

There is a "special" tool, many times it can be found in the 1$ box under the table at fleamarkets.

Also there is a small point on one of the corners of the square, it is so you know the location of cotter hole at the other end.

For the Flea Mkt. tool, what is the socket configuration & size: Square, 6-pt, 8-pt?
9/16, 21/32, 11/16, other? Both ends the same?
