Can anyone recommend a rear hub puller? Can anyone recommend a rear hub puller? My 1931 Victoria has one rear hub with a groove, and one rear hub with a ring. I would prefer to have one tool that does both designs. A friend of mine in our club has a heavy duty antique puller that I can borrow, but I don't want to be a bother to him. I'd like to find something that I could just keep in the garage for when I need it.
I saw this on Amazon.com, but I don't know if it would hold up very well or not. It may not even fit over the hub. https://smile.amazon.com/OEMTOOLS-27...%2C152&sr=1-11 |
Re: Can anyone recommend a rear hub puller? That one on Amazon is NOT what you need. Look up universal 3 jaw puller. You need something like that.

Re: Can anyone recommend a rear hub puller? You will not need the puller often. See if you can borrow one. Club members have unusual tools that you can borrow. If you were in my club or nearby, I would let you borrow my puller

Re: Can anyone recommend a rear hub puller? I have a puller that I bought at a swap meet so I have no idea what brand it is. It even looks as though it could be home made. It works on both the grooved and ridged hubs except on out of 8 I have that has a larger diameter in the groove.
The puller is two pieces that form a cylinder and after you put them around the groove (or ridge), a sleeve goes over them to hold them together and a bolt in the end is tightened to pull the hub. There has been only one hub that I couldn't pull with that puller and that was because someone had used loctite on the taper (GRRRR!). |

Re: Can anyone recommend a rear hub puller? I saw this one online, but it looks a little pricey, and it apparently would only work on one of my hubs, since I have one ring hub and one groove hub.

If you look at the info it won't work on the protruding ring style hub. |

Re: Can anyone recommend a rear hub puller? Bratton's has them, take your pick. You can get both individual pullers cheaper than the universal.

Thanks. I saw the universal one on Bratton’s before I posted. Have you ever used one of them? If so, what are your thoughts on them? Will they last well? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Can anyone recommend a rear hub puller? Mitchell Manufacturing makes one that works on both style hubs. As with all of their products it is top notch. ~$100 https://mitchelloverdrives.com/mitchell-hub-puller/

I love my Model A hub puller.
It was made by Blue Point Tools around 1933 (tool #429). You can have one too, but you'll have to keep an eye out for one on eBay. When I bought mine about four years ago, I was the only bidder. 65 USD I think it was. . |

No, I've not used that puller. If its a Mitchell it should be good. I use other pullers if needed. I can't remember the last time I've used one on an A. The hubs usually come off with a tap of the axle. |

Re: Can anyone recommend a rear hub puller? I have and use one like this:

Re: Can anyone recommend a rear hub puller? Good Morning...I have Vintage Precision's thermostat housing and it is superb! So I imagine that their hub puller would be as well...particularly as it is an improvement on K.R. Wilson's design...and they were pretty much the top of the heap, back in the day...Ernie in Arizona
