Pull to the left fixed
 

Hydraulic brakes, 1800 miles, never driven in the rain, brake lines blead, shoes properly adjusted, DOT 3 fluid, new Cling set up.
For quite some time I have experienced a sharp pull to the left when I hard stop. Doing everything I could think of with no solution, I finally replaced the two front cylinders. That fixed the problem.
When I got back from my successful test ride I examined the old cylinders.
There was a lot of "crud" on the outside of the pistons, the left rear piston was frozen in place, both the left and right were rusty inside and out.
My question is: could this be from condensation, since I never have had it in the rain.
I sure don't want to go thru this again if I can help it.

Brake fluid is a magnet for moisture (hydroscopic), humidity and condensation are enough to cause trouble and wheel cylinders usually end up being the weak link. Silicone brake fluid will avoid this since it is not hydroscopic, it is best used in conjunction with a complete hydraulic rebuild and flushing of all lines.

Thanks, that is great information I was not aware of.
How many of you go to DOT 5 to eliminate this problem?
It would be quite a chore cleaning the lines, cylinders, replacing the rubber etc.
Would it be better to just pump out DOT 3 and replace it every couple of years?
Or would you still have to clean out the fluid in the cylinder?

How long had it been sitting before being used??

I used it right away after completion. However it does sit in a unheated garage all winter and only driven about 600 miles a year.
