1934 Title How can I obtain a title for a 1934 Ford frame that I bought? If I can buy a title I have a body that is pretty good that is a 1934 body that would fit on the frame.

Re: 1934 Title I thought there are people willing to sell old titles on cars that were crushed.

Re: 1934 Title That is illegal.

Re: 1934 Title I check the vin first (must be not in use)
Then its simply a matter of getting vin # verified by DMV or a LIO and filling out the paper work for a new title. That’s how it works in CA And always remember Ford used an I for a one so don’t right down I instead of 1 |
Re: 1934 Title This can be a catch 22 in some states. Issuing a title for a motor vehicles is defined pretty specifically. For just a frame, it might not be easy. Every state is different. To use an old title means the original numbers would have to change and that is the part that is illegal in most jurisdictions. It is considered a fraudulent action.

Re: 1934 Title Yes agreed some states make it very difficult.
So in that case I would simply ask a friend in a friendly state to put it in their name in their state and give - sell it to you. Then walk into your DMV and put it in your name. The biggest problem people have is asking DMV how its done. The drones at the counter will in most cases not know what to do and make it a living hell for you. You want to find out independently first from outside DMV how it work and then go to them with paper in hand filled out. VIN numbers can be verified by a peace officer and the paper signed before you go to DMV. There’s no need to drag the frame or car to the DMV (in Ca) |
Re: 1934 Title Old Ford Addict has it correct if the VIN number is not being used. If in California, the VIN would come back "no record on file" which means it's a good number to use. You can then file for a "lost title". Filing for a "new" title could lead you into the trap of a "reconstructed vehicle" which can cause a lot of extra paper work, inspections, etc.

Re: 1934 Title This site specifically rules out buying and selling titles. It says so at the top of the swap meet pages.
Obviously asking how to go about correctly titling your vehicle is a legitimate line of enquiry. Mart. |
Re: 1934 Title Go to SEARCH at the top of the page and check for info on OLD TITLES
