Kube, Just wondering was the hood bent or was it just the original manufacturing process that made it fit poorly? Seems that all the 38's and 39's are out of alignment (especially where the hood joins the grill) and there is only so much you can do to correct it.

Hi Everyone. Kube thanks for the photo and bringing us along. This hood looks marvelous. The lines/gaps are very pleasing to the eye!

Edit to add: I think I got in about two sentences with you in Springfield, and I'll never forget the deluge in Saratoga Springs where my Dad, Henry judged with you, and I think you had a freshly done Wagon out in the elements. I'll be sure to get my ducks together for Dearborn so I might try to say hello again.

I restored my 36 with the same goals in mind,especially satisfied with Base/clear coat paint that shows off the beauty of the body. My driver was a nice 40 Ford PU I drove for 19 years - seeing yours made me regret selling mine to finish the 36. Can't wait to see yours done.

The hood was perhaps the nicest piece of sheet metal with this truck. However, it did not "match" the cowl - being about 1/2" too wide. My opinion? The hood was poorly assembled (welded).
Without going in to too much detail, there were numerous indications that's exactly what the issue was.
Good enough for production no doubt - not good enough for a restoration.
It took quite an effort to get this right but it had to be done.

Yep, I recall that day in New York quite well. Your Dad was one neat guy. I really enjoyed my time with him.
Deluge? That word describes quite well the rain we had...
I did have a freshly done '39 wagon "in the mix". After the rain, a lot of effort to clean it... you know the routine :) If I recall correctly, the car did 998 so I was pleased.

When is the Dearborn show?
Is it held at Ford world headquarters Dearborn, Mi.?

Dearborn has been historically held at the Hyatt, in Dearborn, MI. It is usually in July. That would be 2018.

Yippee! Started hanging the front fenders and grille yesterday. Happy thus far with the progress. I already had the hood aligned properly and will progress by fitting the fenders, etc. to the hood.

I have to share this as I am so thrilled... In all of my experience I have not once had a front clip go together so well, so quickly, as this truck.
Yes, of course, the sheet metal is fit prior to final paint, etc. Still, once painted, it always seems the metal "magically" moves, making the assembly (alignment) process a test of my patience.
This one? About one good, albeit long day, and the front clip was DONE.
Even as I write this, I am reliving the absolute thrill of how well this one went together.
I know I am dreaming to think the next will go this well.

Friday I will be placing the bed on the frame. Can't wait :)

Good day
Not shown on your "inside cab picture) as the hub of the steering column is in the way. There are three holes below the Ford emblem: One for the choke, one for the hand throttle and the center one is for the light switch? Is that correct? Also on the left top corner of the dash is two silver like buttons, any idea what they are used for?

Two silver like buttons? My guess? A modification made sometime in the past - not "factory". Perhaps you could post a photo?

Nice open space to put it together in has to be pleasurable. Great looking truck, the attention to detail is incredible.

Where do you get your floor mattes from please? They look great.

Take apart, clean (emphasis on lots of cleaning here), repair, trial fit, repair again (with possible repeats), final fit, prep/paint, then final assembly and hopefully no repeats in there.

Its definitely all in the many hours of prep work that makes it go together so well. Work well done and rewards innumerable (lots of jumping for joy here). It looks like you're getting close to having the other kind of fun with it. Driving it is only part of the fun though.
