Coil conversion kit install 1 Attachment(s)
Where does the condenser mount, to one of the 3 screws that mount the adapter plate to the distributor? The drawing shows it mounted vertically but there’s no provision for that.
Does it mount to the same terminal lug as the wire?? |
Re: Coil conversion kit install yes, and the short wire goes to the terminal with the pigtail. as does the wire [not the HT lead] from the coil. Actually, you can mount the condenser up on the coil if you like, as long as the body of the condenser is grounded, and the short lead connects to the wire from coil to distributor. mounted there allows it to be in a cooler location and is more accessible

They drew it "mounted vertically" because the view of the drawing was not well-thought out initially. Rotate the condenser (bracket) 90º from the position shown in the drawing and be done with it! Essentially, mount it to a GROUNDED surface. Coop . |

Re: Coil conversion kit install I mounted the condenser on the coil per Brian’s suggestion.

Re: Coil conversion kit install Unless you bought the adapter from us, trash the condenser and run a FD72 condenser. Trust me on this one......

Re: Coil conversion kit install The conversion kit was in a Dennis Carpenter bag.

Re: Coil conversion kit install 2 Attachment(s)
This has been bothering me for days, so I just have to post about it. While I thank "corvette8n" and "petehoovie" for giving my condensers some exposure, I have to say I am quite embarrassed about the appearance of the early versions. The one shown was sold right after I decided to sell them to others and has my old style bottoms (which, in a word, were quite crude).
I have to say I agree with Seth that a much prefer that distributor with a "Skip's Coil" because it also hides the deficiencies of the condenser. Here are a couple of pictures of how I do it now. |
Re: Coil conversion kit install 99% of us never noticed the “deficiency” in your older style can. Looks good to me.
And they work great! |
