How to measure for 16" wire wheel Hey guys, how do you check if the rim your looking at is the size the guy selling it says? How do you check/ measure? Looking for some 1935, 16" wire wheels to put on my 1931 Victoria. A photo of where to lay tape ruler would be great! Thanks, Fred

Re: How to measure for 16" wire wheel Generally a 16" wheel will measure a little over 17" outer edge to outer edge of wheel.
The 16" measurement would be the wheel bead to bead measurement, as that is what the 16" tire would have for a bead to bead measurement is 16". . |
Re: How to measure for 16" wire wheel Thanks, Lanny!

Re: How to measure for 16" wire wheel Another thing to ask the seller to verify if they spin true and close up pics that might reveal curb rash or driven when tire was flat, otherwise its a pig in a poke.

The Ford wires are only 16", 17" or 18". After a while you become accustomed to them and can judge by the "spindliness" of them and can tell the difference just by looking. The 16s have the shortest spokes and smallest gap between the central hub and the rim. They are easy to spot. The others are not so easy but it's the 16s you're looking for. The hubs are the same on all the models.
