80th anniversary for the 1936 Ford
 

As 2016 comes to a close, the 1936 Ford celebrated its 80th anniversary. I thought it would be nice to share some pictures and stories about forum members beloved 36 Fords.

Here is the car that I found. It has become a nice driver. I purchased the car from a friend that had it sitting in his garage for over 15 years. It was restored sometime in the 70's. It was converted to 12V, hydraulic brakes and a late model flathead was installed when I purchased the car. In the past three years I've installed a Columbia overdrive, rebuilt the transmission with a set of 25 tooth Lincoln gears and have spent guide some time working on the cars dependability and drive-ability. The 36 ford has been a dream car for me ever since I was a young boy, when revived my first hot wheels car, a 36 ford 3 window coupe.

OK, here's my Phaeton, bought last year from a gentleman in Cape Cod. The car was owned by a succession of people over the years, including Dee Howard, San Antonio aviation pioneer and inventor of the jet engine thrust reverser.

The car came to me substantially as you see it, but I have added a bunch of little enhancements and adjustments so it drives very well indeed. It has become my favorite of the vintage and antique cars I've had over the years.

Turnpikecruiser, Do you mean like this. This great old Australian 1936 Ford Roadster Ute has found its way to the USA. It seems that these cars are much more appreciated over there, than they are here, however, times are changing, and the humble Ford V8 Ute is becoming very collectable here now. Unfortunately, many of the good ones have left our shores, and with our poor exchange rate, I can't see them returning back home.

Here is my 36 Cabriolet when I bought it this past July. Still has the original 21 and transmission. Drove it through the summer. Then once the bad wheather hit I pulled the front and rear suspensions. Sent the axle out to be dropped, reversed the eyes on both front & rear main leaves, installed hydraulic brakes and a set of 3:54's, sent the radiator to US Radiator to be recored, had Skip do the pumps put a set of 5.50 7.00 Coker Nostalgia radials on it that I don't really like so I'm going change those to American Classics.

so that's where that UTE ended up....glad you're enjoying....sad story about the guy who owned it in the pic posted by mercman from oz.....he had a few '36s....Mike

Saw my first '36 when I was in grade school around '55 or so, knew I had to have one, 40 yrs. later I did.

Yes Mike ,he was a friend of mine for years. Wish I could have purchased more of his cars. Gene and Marie were good people.

Hi Everyone, Here's the one my Dad added to the family in about 2009, I inherited his half in 2013. Along with help from JM35 and CharlieNY, we did a lot of mechanical work on it and it's a very reliable driver. It sure is sexy, but sometimes I wish it had door locks and real windows.

I notice Dad is wearing a hat he got as a gift from Kube!

Very cool car and great way to send time with family! I know what you mean about no windows on those cold days. Owning a roadster I have the same issue, but on the nice spring, summer and fall days you can't beat it.
