value of a model B horn vs an A horn?

are they of similar value or is a B horn worth a heck of a lot more?

I am guessing about the same, because of the limited use of a B.

My guess would be about 25% more for a B horn in equivalent condition. This is just based on observations not a detailed analysis of selling prices. FYI I have two Model B's and one Model A in my garage.

thank you Charlie. What I suspected.

There is a B on a car Im selling and I figured it really wasnt worth exchanging them.

Mostly what I've seen is they are virtually the same horn with only different motor covers. I wouldn't think a B would be hardly any more than an A. I think both covers are available repo if one doesn't care

The B has a pinched cover and the A is just a regular "can".
Ive taken apart a B before (1) and found it to be pretty darn similar.
I can stand corrected without getting puffed up like some recent thingy's!!!

What is a "pinched cover"?

Well to me it means that instead of being like a soup can, it is tapered on both sides (left/right, not top/bottom)toward the back of the horn.

If I can find a pic will post

I believe the bolt pattern is the same,..BUT not the same as an A..it's rotated..

True, It has been my experienc, Model A people are a lot more picky on having the proper horn. Even though there are fewer boat tail horns they sale for about the same price as.

Re: value of a model B horn vs an A horn?

Several years ago I was restoring a 1932 Coupe and I needed a horn. I found out that A & L Parts Specialties was making these horns. Al Lepore, a friend of mine from the CT Model A Restorers Club, mentioned that he had one left from his production run. He commented that this beautiful horn was a "dead item." There just wasn't enough 1932 Fords being restored anymore. This horn is virtually identical to an original horn down to the data plate. Al has since passed away but everyday when I go out to the garage or blow that horn, I remember him. He was a tremendous asset to our hobby. Ed

I had the pleasure of meeting Al Lepore at one National meet that was held out west. Yes he was a great asset to the Model A community.
