My first thought was the same as mrtexas but then I remembered a bit of trivia. The tires on the 85 HP cars were 6.00 X 16. The tires on the 60 HP cars were 5.50 X 16. Since I wasn't around at the time I base this on "The 1937 Ford Book" from the Early Ford V8 Club.

There was another option as well, although I don't recall the tire size used, namely 18" wheels for greater ground clearance.
