Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour

37 Coupe, thanks for getting back to me with that information.;) I got the bushing from Joblot, (I've been doing business with them for over 45 years),:) I don't know who Dan Brusegard is :( but I'd appreciate it if you would provide his contact info. If the bushing he makes is superior, I'll order one from him.:D By the way, I don't have the ability to make anyone work on my cars; (I'm not the Pied Piper of Flatheads...) all the guys and gals that come over to play, do so of their own accord and they are all my friends. That's what friends do, help each other out. We all have Flatheads and we enjoy working on them together. Additionally, many of us that post here use visual enhancement (photos) to enrich our postings, and who doesn't like PIZZA???

Good grief, details and contact information about the Brusegard bearing have been on the Fordbarn since about day one,and I mean the old Fordbarn. Just type in Brusegard on search above and just see how many references since the new Barn started.

Well gee wiz... I hadn’t paid much attention (in that regard) as I was not contemplating replacing the bushing until recently however, upon closer scrutiny (with the use of a drop light) I was able to see how to remove the retainer and free the spider and the spring (see photo)

I guess I’ll just use the bushing I got from Joblot, I'm sure it'll work just fine. But thanks anyway...:)

With all the confusion/bickering/discussion/jokes going on in this thread I missed the question about the horn rod/shaft/tube/thingie removal. Ya... It be that horseshoe clip.

However, you missed the point, and also failed to make note of the times that I have reverted to the original subject, working on Flatheads. Is your intent (in this post) to add fuel to the fire? Or would you care to comment on any of the Flathead related questions I've posed throughout this thread? I’d welcome the latter.:)

================================================== =======

Say Vic, don't blame me for adding fuel to the fire.
I just listed the quotes YOU Made, so if that's
adding fuel to the fire, then look in the mirror
if you want to blame someone.

Lanny, I wasn't looking to place blame, just asking a question...

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour

Tinker, thanks, I got it.:) I removed the clip, etc. and put the top down to pull the rod out. The hardest part of the entire (fix it) was getting the remnants of the old bushing out of the steering column.:(

The Banjo slid right off,:D it must have really wanted that new bushing... I cleaned everything up, installed the new bushing and replaced the Banjo wheel.

Next I'll clean and replace the headlight/horn rod and put everything back together.
All in all, another productive lunch hour in the garage…:D:cool:

Another nice thing about having a convertible! Stay dry out there if you can, looks like from the bottom picture you are living lake side!

Yeah, how do you change the rod out if you've got a Coupe or Sedan, do you have to drop the column? Believe it or not, that is the Cyprus head on our property... We've had so much rain this summer that the water level has risen to the point where it is only about 15 feet from the garage (and the garage is on the "high" ground...) This latest storm has been dropping more rain on us all day. The good thing is; we dodged the bullet and didn't get a direct hit. I sure hope it doesn't cause much damage when it hits land…

Mr. Moose (Jeff) is also in St. Pete. If it ever stops raining:( we should try to get together and play with Flatheads. Vic

If this rain stops... I've meet Jeff. Maybe if Jeff is game for a flathead convoy.

Ed, that was excellent!!!:D Nothing like spinnin' those stacks a wax and spinnin' those platters that matter... some super Submarine Race Watchin' music...:) Steve ('46 Coupe) knows of a Drive-In Movie Theater in Ruskin (south of Tampa) and he is going to see if they will accommodate us with a movie one night during the next Florida "Barner's Bash"... That should be fun.:) Thanks for posting that, I can't stop dancin':eek::cool: Vic

There is a dirt track in Zephyrhills; every year at the swap meets they have racin', lots of Flatheads, etc.

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour

I put the headlight/horn rod in (it's not in the correct position in the photo:eek:) and put the top back up...:)

I think I'll need someone to sit in the car and hold the switch in the correct position so I can get the spring on and get the spider in their correct position as well before securing the retainer and putting the headlight switch back in place... That was fun:D:cool:

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour

Vic I was joking, but you never know!

I've been to Zephyrhills, looked into a getting a 39 tudor w/8ba from Dave down here. But ultimately decided I have too many things going on right now. Take care.

Tinker, I know you were joking... ;) There are far too many thin-skinned people chiming in on this thread lately so, you're right, you never know... I was going to suggest that we could run the cars around my house but we'd have to put pontoons on them...:D
