suggestions regarding new w/s frame

Well, I went and bought a repro windshield frame for my '29 roadster pick-up from Speedway. It arrived last week along with the outer frame weatherstrip I ordered. I pre-fit it between the stanchions with the hardware to see how it would look. Everything looked good....or so I thought.

Here are some pics of the frame in place. Notice anything wrong?

There is no channel on the side pieces to slip the weatherstrip into, yet the bottom piece has it! Nothing was listed in the product description indicating this was modified...

Being new to the Model A, is this something that you veterans are familiar with? Is this what I was supposed to get, or a manufacturing mistake? Maybe Speedway sells these cheaper than other vendors because of this...I just don't know. Can I cut a slot on either side for the strip; return it (hassle); or just use the channel in the bottom and 'concoct' something for the sides of the frame?

Thanks for any advice.

There is not supposed to be weather stripping on the sides of a 28/29 open vehicle windshield frame. The side weather stripping fits in the slots of the stanchions. 30/31 open vehicle windshield frames HAVE slots for weather stripping on the sides.

Is the glass channel deep enough ? Around 20 years ago the repro windshield frames had a weld at the bottom of the glass channel that was so high it took up about half of the channel depth, leaving very little channel to hold the glass.

I'll check for the welds you mentioned...and thank you 'wrndln' for setting me straight regarding the channels! Shows what I (don't) know....:o. I have an original windshield frame that came with the project, but it is too big. So rather than cut/weld it to size I bought this one. The original frame has channel all the way around, soooooooooooo....I assumed they were all like that. (There's that word again; my bad.)

Thank you for easing my mind, and letting me know what to look for. This Barn is a good place to hang out!

Here are others pics of my 'project'.
