door panel clips

What is the technique for getting the door panel clips to pop into the holes in the door? Bought new panels and the clips won't go in the holes.

what body are you working on. and what clips are you using. some of the clips that comes with the interior kits, are not very good.

It's a 30 coupe. I'm using the clips that came with the panels. The wire is the same size as the originals, but maybe a little different form.

they should go in, but they sometime have the tendency to pucker the upholstery. I use some needle nose pliers to help move the clips into place. and get them started in the holes.

I had problems with new panels those clips were strong! Needle nose pliers to keep the clips straight and a diameter hammer ( big hammer) and pushed them in, the Palm of my hand didn't work. When I removed the panels the clips seamed to have weakened, the install went back much easier the second time. Maybe you can squeeze the clips before the first install to help?

Where did you get the clips? The repo clips do not look anything like what the originals did.

I've used a short length of 2 X 1/2 board covered in cloth, so as to not mar the upholstery, and drive it home with a hard plastic mallet or your hand, #1 thing to do prior to striking is ensure the clip nose is in the hole, if it's not lined up right, you'll know...and it may not be a good thing.
New clips are notoriously stiff.

It sometimes helps to put a little wax on the clips for a lubricant.
