The search function is making me #!@&% crazy!! I'll quickly admit to be a little impatient in my old age, but this is driving me even further toward a quick end.
Let's say I wanted to look for, say, "8BA in a 40 swap tips". 12 pages of non-pertinent info. So how about some other formulation or combination? Nope. How about a search for search tips? Pfffft! HELP! Puleeze!:mad::confused::mad: |
Re: The search function is making me #!@&% crazy!! I'm not sure how far back the archives go, my guess is it takes up some hard drive space and cash.
I'm sure it's been covered many times. Maybe add the full yr of your car to narrow it. "1940 ford installing 8ba" maybe???? ...just checked, no go. I know there was a thread 5-6yrs ago very detailed. |
Re: The search function is making me #!@&% crazy!! The search engine is going to look at each word in your search phase as a separate item so you are going to get a ton of returns you don't want. I find it better to search single words or maybe two words that lead to what you are looking for. The best way to search I have found is to do a general search online. Barn post (and HAMB) will come up there. Searching online either on the Barn or the internet in general is somewhat of a learned skill!

Re: The search function is making me #!@&% crazy!! This is a post about putting a 8ba in a 40. I got from the hamb, hamb poster Linked back to the barn.
https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showt...engine+36+ford Who knows... more ways to skin the cat I guess. JSeery's suggestion is very good one. Google it. add fordbarn at the end. |
Re: The search function is making me #!@&% crazy!! Well, there you go. I'm on the HAMB.
Thanks for the tips. I knew about some of those, but didn't have anything on crank driven fan. But, is there anyway to make the FB search less aggravating? |
Re: The search function is making me #!@&% crazy!! Don't do it??? ....just kidding. I don't know a simple answer.
Try once then search other ways. Google shows a lot of ford barn threads. . |
Re: The search function is making me #!@&% crazy!! jseery has it correct, go to google, put in you question, then fordbarn or hamb, your done. many times if its a common topic, google will show a link stating " more results from fordbarn" or something to that effect, click on that to get even more

Re: The search function is making me #!@&% crazy!! THANKS!
I guess Google is your friend. |
Re: The search function is making me #!@&% crazy!! Try using wording like this in the Search unction.
"Install 8BA in a 1940 Ford" |
Re: The search function is making me #!@&% crazy!! Like I said, there is some art, learning curve to it. In fact, not sure some it is magic or chance!! :)
If I really want to research something, I just keep trying different approaches and given enough time usually fined what I'm looking for. It is sometimes amazing what ends up working. |
Re: The search function is making me #!@&% crazy!! If you put " " around your text string most searches will look for that string not the individual words.

Go to Bing or Google and use the site-search function. In the search bar simply type "site: fordbarn.com XXXXX" where the XXXXX is the topic you want to search. For example, "site: fordbarn.com 8BA in a 40 swap tips." What this does is search JUST The Ford Barn for the topic you've entered. Also, it should bring up ONLY posts on The Ford Barn. Another tip, this works for any website, just change "fordbarn.com" to whatever site you want to search. |
Re: The search function is making me #!@&% crazy!! When searching with google, I ask the question then put, "forums" at the end, never know where I will end up but usually find the info, if not I ask my dumb question here, lol.

Re: The search function is making me #!@&% crazy!! More good suggestions.
Thanks, guys! |
Re: The search function is making me #!@&% crazy!! I do similar to above, I put my search criteria in, lets say "8BA in a 1940 Ford" then put "site:fordbarn.com" on the end.
So I put: "8BA in a 1940 Ford site:fordbarn.com" or "8BA in a 1940 Ford site:jalopyjournal.com" for the same search on the hamb. Mart. |
Re: The search function is making me #!@&% crazy!! Cool!
I'll try it. Thanks! |
Re: The search function is making me #!@&% crazy!! The search function is making me #!@&% crazy!! Ford barn. Now if someone googles it they will be here. :) Not really but....google is your friend.

Re: The search function is making me #!@&% crazy!! 2 Attachment(s)
You can add the Ford Barn to the search, but it is really not needed. You will get the same basic results either way. Here is an example, first screen grab is what I searched and the second one is the results.

My post was a joke. If you only want "more" fordbarn posts at the top, add fordbarn in the search. |
