V8 piston rings

Hi Guys.. I was checking the ring gap of my new rings when I noticed that the box was missing a spring tensioner on the third oil control ring. 2x times thin steel flat rings separated by a wiggly spring. The wiggly part is missing.
There are 4 ring grooves with the 4th ring being cast iron.
Can I just install 3 rings and leave the 3rd one out?
Can I install the 4th ring in the 3rd ring position?
I've got some old pistons with rings so could I use a second hand piece in the new pistons?
Ideas anyone?

Regards Kevin

The wigley piece is just an expander,,,,the thin flat rings are what cleans the oil off the cylinder wall .
They wear,,,the expander doesn’t .
You should be good if you need to reuse one .

Re: V8 piston rings

Hi Desoto.. the 2nd hand expander is off a +40thou piston. The new pistons are +80thou that is a difference of 40thou or 1mm in metric speak. The height seems right. I'm don't want the engine to chew much oil.

The expander is the same,,,,,the thin rings should be all that is larger o.d.
If you have new oil rails,,,,it should be good .
