Braces Just watched short video of 56 Crown Skyliner. A relative has one and I have seen a few and also several 54's along with another friend that has 55 Mercury Glass top, but I have never seen the under hood bracing. Is that a Sunliner part or perhaps a export item? Just curious. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZYHsMtxeCI

Re: Braces I think that was the Shelby edition for 1956

Re: Braces ive seen them on 4 dr hardtops

Re: Braces If you are talking about those tube braces between firewall and forward inner fender apron, I have never seen them in any of the '55 or '56 sedan or wagon models or Victoria's.
Notice he is missing the upper air dam that is supposed to be on top of the radiator air deflector. That car should have one for use with the 4-bbl intake and dual-diaphragm distributor. The 2-bbl cars did not have that part. He is also missing the sunvisors. I have noticed a couple of these Skyliner (transparent top) Crown vics that have the Crown Victoria script on the door. Where is the Skyliner script? |
Re: Braces BTW, it looked to me like when he passed the camera across the open door jamb, that it had the '55 door latches. That was a '56 model so it should have had the new safety door latches and striker plates. I know, I am terrible.

Re: Braces Those under-hood braces (base part # 16036 & 16037) are shown in the parts book and states they were used only on body style 57A (Fordor hardtops).

Re: Braces I don't believe they had Skyliner script like 54's 57,58 and 59. I was never close to 4 dr hard top. All interesting stuff, I like the Shelby version. The visors would have been the foam filled ones if it had padded dash and maybe disintegrated. Not sure if it was separate option.
