Have you tried autocolorlibrary.com?

Yes, David, I have. The only thing listed is the original code IM-1248 which is no longer available. I able to find that Ford my have recycled this color in 1986, stay tuned...

Re: 1932 Medium Maroon

The original color is slightly muddy, unlike the '36 light fast maroon and the '40 Mandarin maroon. The latter two likely avoid the brown tone by being produced with a bit of gold. (in paint and glass pure reds, maroons, and purple require gold to kill the mud; I am not making this up as those colors when true always cost more to produce and therefore are more expensive to buy.)

Re: 1932 Medium Maroon

Model A website indicates Ford Maroon for 29,30,32 as DSO 56 DuPont, 1011 PPG. Ford Maroon medium for 31, as DSO 64 DuPont. Perhaps a quality auto paint store could use these codes to find a match.

Hope this helps,

Tom

Gentlemen,
I have been in the Body Shop business for the past 35 years so I am aware of how to research my color options. If someone had a match for this color it would have just saved me a lot of time. So thank you for your responses! My painter spoke with the PPG color library and they informed us that 1986 Ford code 2Y Midnight Wine should match up. We will mix it up shortly and post the result. Thanks Again!

Check paintref.com.

Re: 1932 Medium Maroon

paintref.com and autocolorlibrary.com only supply the original paint manufacturers codes. They do not have formulas or cross-reference information. The code I listed above looks great!

Re: 1932 Medium Maroon

I have a new custom mix PPG formula that can be mixed in either single or two stage application if needed.

Any update? Have you sprayed a test card?

Re: 1932 Medium Maroon

Farley,

Sounds like the PPG recommended 2Y Midnight Wine wasn't quite correct and you had to develop a "custom mix PPG formula" to match up. What is the source of the original color you are using to match up your formula?

Re: 1932 Medium Maroon

The PPG paint technician modified PPG mix number 52914 to an exact match.
