Oil Filler Oil Filler tube came out while driving found it on road when returning. I didn't lose much oil although plenty splashed around engine and firewall.
Have put it back in hope it doesn't happen again. Any suggestions how to stop this? |
Re: Oil Filler Normally a light press fit. Try expanding the bottom part of the tube by hammering on it while it is on a mandrel. Any round steel part, mounted in a vice, can be the mandrel. The hammering will expand the metal.
Or glue it in with a loctite adhesive or other adhesive. If you use the adhesive clean everything with acetone. |
Re: Oil Filler When I had that problem I tinned the tube with soft solder (tin and lead).

Re: Oil Filler Mine was loose but it didn't fall out. I did what nkaminar described and it worked fine.

Re: Oil Filler After you re-install the tube, lay a piece of 2X4 across it and tap it down w/a 3 or 5 lb hammer.

Re: Oil Filler Hello,
Thanks have tapped it down with a piece of 4x2 (that's how we describe it in NZ) and hammer. Took it for a short drive about two miles stayed there ok. It may have just worked out/up over time. |
