Ford Folks,
Couple things related to the ragged ol truck!

Had a good visit With Lawrie (from down under) and John Mason as we prepared to leave Dearborn.

Take a close look at this picture! Yes Michael Driskell is driving, with Seth Swaboda riding shotgun, and Jon (from Sweden) and his friend in the background. Michael said it drove Ok for a dump truck!:)

Cheryl and I seem to be busy every day too.

I came home with a unexpected surprise from David Rehor! A NOS exhaust system for the 32 Commercial truck! My understanding is these are pretty much not available anywhere! Thanks so much for good friends like David to assist newbies like me in this old car hobby!! John Kelly wants to help me get it installed on the truck soon too. Me too!

That's Tom McCarriston in the photo in post #2062. He's famous for his 8N Ford Tractor. Tom's a great guy and one of the fellas I hang out with at all national meets. It was fun taking a ride with Michael in the dump truck. I would loved to have been out on an open road with it. One thing I enjoy at these meets. Having other folks let me ride in or drive their cars. David G is a wealth of knowledge. I'm glad he passes along his knowledge and even some parts for folks!

Folks,
Talked with David last night and we both agreed that the exhaust pipe will need some adjustments to fit under the truck. Might look at that today. The trial was a indication that some cutting and welding is in order. Not a problem to do that just fitting up the muffler section to some improved shape piping. Looking forward to hearing the sound as it would have from the Ford factory!
Pictures??? Well they are not working well as you can see some are way to large!

Folks,
We went to local car show tonight about 8 miles from home. The 32 did well? Continue to meet new friends at these events!
A good time and some crispy cheese curds and Colorado cool aid! That new exhaust from David allows us to almost talk in the 32!
Great great grandsons were here today.

Hot here. Have got work to do in the shop on a two post Rotary brand, 12,000 lb lift. Level, anchor, and get it functioning after removal from local dealership. Just another toy!

Darn computer is not working good.
I seen a post on what to do for a V8 meet rouge class. Just wondering if the ragged old truck might be able to be judged in on of those classes?
I have not done a lot of things correctly, but still fairly original old piece.

Here are the rules for Rouge vehicles from the judging manual:
https://www.earlyfordv8.org/images/u...NG%20RULES.pdf a copy of which is attached. Maybe you can figure out if you meet the requirements. You can also just enter it into the Rouge class and let the judges do the work.

ROUGE DIVIS ION
1. Vehicles will be considered for certification in one or more of three areas: Interior, Exterior, and/or Running Gear (which includes the engine). Originality, as manufactured, is the primary criteria for certification.
Cosmetic condition, wear and tear, except for items which might affect safety, will not be considered. Proper
maintenance and reasonable cleaning is expected.
2. A minimum of 90% of the area being considered must be original from the manufacture of the vehicle
to be certified for the Rouge Award or subsequent V-8 Medallion Award.
3. Allowable replacement parts for original vehicles shall be limited to:
A. Water hoses and fan belts.
B. Spark plugs.
C. Water pumps and fuel pumps
D. Generator and starter.
E. Distributor and battery.
F. Tires and tubes
G. Topping fabric and pads on open cars, however top boot and side curtains shall be original.
H. Top insert of 1932-1936 model closed cars.
I. Exhaust pipe, muffler and tail pipe.
J. Windshield wiper blades.
K. Minimum amount of wiring to be replaced/repaired to ensure dependable opera
tion and drivability is allowed. The replacement of entire looms is discouraged.
4. Allowed replacement parts shall be the correct type, finish and color for the year and model of the
vehicle.
5. Parts which are repainted, replated, refinished, reupholstered or in any way restored are not original as
manufactured.
6. Past winners of the Dearborn Award/Medallion are eligible for the Rouge Division.

No matter what you decide, it's a Rouge truck to me.

Ford folks,
The 32 truck is running very well, in my opinion. I don't have years of experience with any cars or trucks of the era. But lots of tractor time as a kid growing up on farms. Looking back it should not have taken that long to get it operational, but it did. Getting that intermediate engine transplant really allowed me to work out a lot of small things, and get the ragged ol' truck moving again. The rebuilt "B" engine moves the truck down the back roads at a easy 30 mph and can reach maybe 45 if pushed. Cheryl and I are having a lot of fun with it too.
Next week is our big tractor show and on Sunday the 23rd, we are having our first truck show. Hope to have 50-60 trucks of all types. Since steam equipment is getting rare we need to do something at the club to keep folks interested and coming.

Not truck related, but it might set in there someday. Cheryl and I are in the process of adding another building on the property.
About 1/4 the size of our current shop. The plan is to off load some of the the items that have accumulated in the big shop.
Was going to go with steel but think I may use similar materials as the current shop. Post and girt, Shingle roof, vinyl siding and maybe even hemlock along the bottom? Size will be 24 ft. wide and 32 feet deep. Big enough to get my 2015 in there, the 32, or several of the orange tractors.
The gravel is in place. Batter boards up and strings to square up the building. All the framing lumber has arrived. Trusses should be here before I get the framing done. I may have the local crane guy come in a put the trusses in place and maybe lift the OSB roofing up on to the peak area.
Our grand son just bought a house down the road from us. Will be nice when that are neighbors.

I thought you would appreciate seeing this 1927 Ford Dump truck that showed up at the Orchard Park Car Show yesterday. Kerosene lamps for lighting up near the cowl, wooden turn signals on the side of the cab that are operated by two chains and pulleys with pull handles on the back of the cab, and the bed that dumps using a manual system with a hand lever and set of gears. Only 5 years different from your truck, but a lot of changes. It's from southern Erie County in NYS. Those are the owners in the first two pictures. The third picture is later in the day after the lighting was better and they lowered the bed.
