Long Beach, CA Assembly Plant... Where exactly on Google Maps was the Long Beach assembly plant located? It could of been in a couple of spots as it has long since been demolished. I know it was at 700 Henry Ford Ave...But that is a LONG Ave. towards the Bay with any water source.
Well...After studying some historic photos...have found the spot. Located at 700 Henry Ford Avenue off of the Cerritos Channel between the Island Yacht Anchorage and Pier A Longshore parking lot under Hwy 47 and the Schuyler F. Heim Bridge. Thanks. Pluck |

Re: Long Beach, CA Assembly Plant... That's a lot of good reading which I'll get to soon. The location was called Terminal Island. Oil was being drawn out of the ground all around the greater Long Beach area which had the effect of drawing in sea water which didn't support the load of the plant. With dikes surrounding the plant, it managed for some years. These days, the city is pumping surface water in to replace the oil so it won't sink as much. It was a beautiful place in the early 60s when I made many trips there on bicycle, slowly sinking. Fenced and proud of it's past and vacant but no future in sight.
