New to Fordbarn

As a teenager I always wanted a Model A. We had a family friend that traveled the local area selling insurance and she discovered a 1930 Coupe under a shed on one of her routes. My grandfather tried to buy the car from the young man whose grandfather had purchased it new but the young guy wouldn't sell. After a few months the guy called and had decided to sell the car in order to buy Christmas gifts for his kids. He had just made my Christmas!!! This was in 1971. My grandfather said that he had bought the car for me but actually he was enjoying it more than anyone.

Together we did a frame up restoration. in April 1973 my grandfather had all new glass installed, came home and took a nap, and after his nap died of a massive heart attack. The car sat for many years but a few years ago I got really interested in it again. I went back through the car and also gave it a new paint job that I did myself and a new interior. I have been reading this forum and enjoying it very much. I have learned some things I would never have known otherwise.

I feel fortunate to have this car and will never part with it.
I will post pictures when I figure out how to do it.
Sorry for the long post.

Welcome aboard and hopefully we will soon see a picture of the treasured car. Whether you know it of not grandpa will be in the car every time you go for a ride. He would indeed be very proud of you. Wayne

This place has a lot of good folks and a lot of good answers to questions you will enjoy it.

Sorry about your grandad but by YOU keeping the car going and keeping it in the family, your grandfather lives on.

Post a few pics sounds like a nice Coupe AND neat story that goes with it!!

"I will post pictures when I figure out how to do it,"

I think there are a number of posts on here as to how to do this. But I will give you my idea of how to do it.

On a new post, go to the bottom left side and you will see "Manage Attachments". Click on this and it will give you the ability to select your pictures. Make sure they are not to big. After selecting your pictures, click on where it says "update". Wait until it shows the ones you have posted. Then go ahead with your post.

If you add a picture to a post that is already going (like this one) then click below where it says "Go Advanced" and you will see the same thing I mentioned above where you can select your pictures.

Hope this helps and welcome to the Barn.

Welcome, this is a great hobby. Hope you find a local chapter to get involved with and get out on the road and enjoy the experience.
