How are the cables hooked up to a Type 94 carb?
 

Does anyone have pictures of the mounting for the cables that attach to the carbuerator of an 8BA in a '52 F-6 dump truck? I have a choke knob and a throttle cable that appears to hold the throttle for the PTO. The throttle cable isn't hooked up and I can't find anything to hold it or where to attach it to the mechanism. The attachment point for the choke seems to also raise the throttle and its my only way of holding an idle. Anyone with a diagram or picture showing brackets and attachment points?

Second question - I have three knobs. Throttle, Choke and 2 speed rear shift knob. Were they labeled in any way? My 2 speed rear knob has a "T". That doesn't seem right. The other two are blank. Did they come with labels originally?

My '52 F1 has a " T " on the throttle knob & a " C " on the choke knob , if this is any help .

The 2 speed must have been replaced with a Throttle cable =no marking on the 2 speed.
As soon as you move the choke it also moves the idle up a little. As far as the throttle
you will have to find a cable bracket or make one, I think that part is a truck thing. And
where did it go? My $100 bet was sometime a new carb was bought and the old one
turned in for a core charge and the new one probably for a car that doesn't use a throttle.
My F6 is also missing that part, but I just crack the choke it will idle up enough for me..

A truck carb has choke and handthrottle attached with a double bracket...if the carb has only a bracket for choke cable someone replaced the carb during the years.

Here is a view see the ball on the drivers side throttle plate again this pic has no throttle bracket as well as no choke bracket note this bracket is one piece that serves both cables.

Thanks everyone, that is what I suspected. I have been doing the same thing pulling the choke out to increase the idle. I'm going to study the carb and see if I can figure out where to attach the seperate cables and make a bracket. Have welder - will make fire!

I also think I'll order new cables for all the functions. They're all pretty stiff and I get confused easily enough without having them labled wrong....

If it´s a car carburetor you need a new extended throttle shaft to be able to fit a handthrottle lever.
If you got a lever on the oppposite side from the throttle lever going to loudpedal you have a truck base on your carb.

Interesting - I'm going to trudge out to the barn through the snow and take a look. I don't remember seeing an extended shaft. You're all probably right about the car carburetor. I thought it might be a car engine in it, but it had hardened valve seats, which I think is characteristic of the truck engine. Hard to tell what the past was like.

I saw your PM. Thanks. I'm looking at my carb and it does seem to be a car carb. I'm wondering if I can locate a truck throttle shaft first. If you have one of those too I'm very interested!

Easiest way would be to find a good used lower part...preferably with a correct bracket.
Otherwise you need the shaft and 2-pieced lever with a spring and the bracket.
Usually cost the same to source the parts as a used lower part since seller has to dismantle it...

Doesn't the truck carb have a different mounting method for the air cleaner as well? I know the later ones do. It would probably be cheaper and easier to just find a complete truck carb.
