41 vs 42 woody header I have found 2 places to make my windshield header for my woodie.
the one that is local has a pattern for a 42, but not a 41. so my question is, are they the same or diff? other outfit does have the pattern for the 41, but I prefer buying local, as I have dealt with the local guys 20 yrs ago. thank you. |
Re: 41 vs 42 woody header In the July/August, 2017 issue of the V-8 Times there is an article on the differences of the one year only 1942 Ford. Of all the changes listed the article does not mention the cowl section of the body. The article was written by Fred Killian the technical advisor for the 1941/1942 Ford for the V-8 Club. I would contact Fred and I'm sure he can answer your question.

Re: 41 vs 42 woody header Since no one has responded let me suggest you inquire at Kline Bros. in Manchester Pa. a well recognized Ford woodie reproduction shop.Tom Kline will have the answer for sure. Don't know where you are located and I understand you like to deal local. Best to contact Klines by email [email protected] Hope this will help. Bill

Re: 41 vs 42 woody header Thank you Bill, that is the problem. he doesnt know and only has the 42 template and told me I needed to figure it out.................
woodie, any chance you can tell me how to reach Fred Kline? |
Re: 41 vs 42 woody header Ronn, the V-8 Club, for obvious reasons, does not publish private phone numbers, what they do however is publish their address. What they recommend, is to send your question along with a self addressed, stamped envelope. If you need an answer quickly, I would contact the V-8 Club at [email protected] and give them your contact information and have Fred Killian contact you. I can however give you Fred's address, if you aren't in a hurry. Sorry I can't be more helpful. The Kline brothers did my wood and I couldn't be happier with their work, they are true craftsman and nice guys.

Re: 41 vs 42 woody header "Mr Texas" has just completed a full restoration of a 41 Ford wagon. Wood by Ron Heiden of Encinitas Ca. Maybe he has an informed comment on your situation.. Bill

Re: 41 vs 42 woody header "woodie, any chance you can tell me how to reach Fred Kline?" These guys, maybe? > http://www.klinebrothersbodyshop.com...lision-repairs |
Re: 41 vs 42 woody header No Pete, the gentleman I advised Ronn to contact was the advisor for the V-8 Club, 1941/1942 Ford, was Fred Killian, not Kline. I'm fairly sure the website you suggest is not the Kline brothers from the Kline Family Workshop in Manchester PA. Unless they branched out, Tom and Mike specialize in Woodie, Station Wagon woodwork, not full restorations.

Re: 41 vs 42 woody header TJ, the company that they are referring to usually advertises parts on E-Bay, but you need to read the fine print. The price is only available if you have them build the entire body. When I went to Wavecrest the CA people said to avoid them. As you state, most are very honest and don't need to resort to deceptive advertising to get jobs, in fact the good ones have a waiting list.

Re: 41 vs 42 woody header That's the great thing about the "Woodie Community". When you get down to it, it's really a small group of people, promoting the same type of vehicle. Any info you need about certain vendors etc. and you will have several people let you know where to go for your parts and who to avoid.

Re: 41 vs 42 woody header There is one wood maker in California that is a complete fraud and crook. He advertises on ebay. They often change their name as well. He has been banned from advertising in the Woodie Club magazine. His name is Chris Marks. Current ebay handle is vintageautopartsrus. Run Forrest run.

Re: 41 vs 42 woody header interesting.......because that guy on ebay actually quoted me a price for only the two parts I wtd. The header and the rear left drivers post.
but now I am skeptical. Klines made wood for my Buick 20 yrs ago and was very happy with the resluts, but they wont be able to make that 41 header wo a pattern. will try ron heiden |
Re: 41 vs 42 woody header The shop is Orange, Ca., is the one you should steer clear of.
These woodie guys are all in Southern California: Ron Heiden does excellent work, he is near San Diego, Ca. http://www.heidenswoodworking.com/He...king/Home.html Wood N Carr, Doug Carr, Signal Hill, Ca., near Los Angeles http://www.woodncarr.net/ Messano Woodworks Restorations and wood sets, replacement wood parts also available Chris Messano 211 South Mesa Street San Pedro, CA 90731 310-547-0298 |
Re: 41 vs 42 woody header Nickels' Automotive Woodworking Traverse City MI has some good press.
