Drag Link to Pitman Grease Seal 1930 Sport Coupe

Finished installing a new shortened Pitman arm and decided to replace the rubber grease seal. Once all was back together, there is significant space at the rear end of the seal and the drag link opening. Is this normal or was there a different seal originally.

Try rotating the rubber seal 180 degrees.

This is from a guy who marched in cadence "go to my right, my left, my right" until all the pushups straightened me out... but I think Mickey meant 90 degrees.

No it would be 180. Because of how they are made, being cupped they can really only go on two ways. The seal HELPS keep the dust, dirt and water out but it's not perfect. Keep it well greased and the grease will act like a barrier. When greasing, pump more then is needed and wipe off the excess, that will help flush out the dirt.

Did you also instal the steel backer for the rubber seal? Mine usually fit ok with no gap, but reproduction one sometimes are hard to fit.
