When installing an Autolite heater I had to grind off some edges to make it fit properly. I thought standing on the heater would work just dandy . . . until the handheld grinder caught my jeans. Duhhhh!

Re: Safety first . . . Do what I did, set up a Craigslist alert for "vise" and grab a nice used bench vise.

Re: Safety first . . . Reminds me of when I worked on a house renovation and was helping a guy cut a hole in a plaster ceiling with metal lath. The grinder caught and grabbed his shirt. Thankfully it was a heavy shirt because it wrapped around the wheel, stalled the grinder and popped the breaker. I've been more cautious cutting and grinding since then.
