Ford generator model 79 Can anyone tell me about a ford generator model 79? What years was it produced, what vehicles does it go on and what's the difference between it and other same era generators? Anyone have a pix? Thanks!

Re: Ford generator model 79 The 79 generator has three brushes and a two-sheave pulley. Originally on 37-39 trucks.

Re: Ford generator model 79 I understood them to be heavier duty. Do you think it would work on a '35 1 1/2 ton pickup with a single belt/pulls?

Re: Ford generator model 79 The '79' generator has the larger dia shaft so uses the later pulley with the large bore and key, not the '40 style thread-on pulley though. I'm using a "79" type generator with a '39 single groove pulley on a '41 era engine with good setup results. Good Luck Paul

Re: Ford generator model 79 Thanks, Paul. Any chance you can email or PM me a picture?

Re: Ford generator model 79 To further our knowledge, do the 1942-47 generators fit on 1935 and 1940 engines? We are interested in upgrading to a (if they can be found) 50 or 55 amp low RPM excited generator from the later years. 21AS-10000-A, 21AS-10000-D, 59TS-10000 are the part numbers. They are 4-brush generators. If yes, does anyone know of any for sale? Can they be adapted for and properly support the 1935 generator mount fan? Thanks.
