Engine I.D. Help

Hi all, I have a 1928 engine and it has an initials RC before the numbers. Does anyone know what the RC stands for?

Thanks to all that reply>

What are the numbers that follow the "RC"? Can you post a photo of the stamping. Could be a rebuilder re-stamping!

The RC is just before the numbers followed by a star. It is on the block excatly where the numbers should be. The ID reads RC 59848*. I can't post any pictures.

59848 engine number was assembled 3-26-1928

A picture would help as the number stamps used by Ford had a specific shape to them.

Does the number on your title match the number on the engine?

If the shape of your numbers do match the shape that Ford used then some rebuilder put his stamp marks "RC" on. If they do not match then a rebuilder stamped the RC 59848*.

Thanks for the info. I tried to post pictures in the past with no luck. ( I'm not that good with computers ) I will look at the number 9 when I get home tonight. I see the the 9 was changed at one point in time. I think the #8 looks a little funky also.

Thanks Again

OK I looked at the numbers again and the number 9 is the later type stamping after 1931 to the end of production. The number 8 looks like a snowman, a larger circle on the bottom and a smaller circle on top. I hope this can help.
