Holley 94 accelerator pump helper spring i'd like your opinions regarding a spring that sits in the well of a Holley 94 carb. Not to be confused with the spring that is part of the accelerator pump itself. Some rebuilders use this and some are against it. It can be a conical spring that helps the accelerator pump return to its normal position. Ford does not show this part in their drawings. I know Ken CT. does not advocate its use. Any other opinions?

Re: Holley 94 accelerator pump helper spring All I can add to this is that the Ford engineers rarely added anything to their automobiles that was not needed. And, if they did, Henry would have quickly shut them down. As to your last statement? Consider the source.

Re: Holley 94 accelerator pump helper spring I'm with tubman on all points.

Re: Holley 94 accelerator pump helper spring Tubman x 3....but, ask Charlie NY with a p m. He seems pretty sharp on these carbs.

Re: Holley 94 accelerator pump helper spring I've seen that spring below the pump piston in a few carbs. I agree it's not in any parts drawings. If the hole in the throttle lever for the pump link is worn (or the pin on the link is worn) it can cause some slop and the throttle will move slightly before the pump piston goes down. The helper spring can help take up the slop and make the pump react quicker. That's the only advantage I see to the spring. Also it doesn't hurt anything being in there.

Re: Holley 94 accelerator pump helper spring Thanks guys for your input! If ford didn't think it was necessary neither do I!

Re: Holley 94 accelerator pump helper spring I think you may have mis-understood my comments. Every 94 I have taken apart had that spring in it; therefore it was probably necessary. Sorry, I can see how my response was unclear.

Re: Holley 94 accelerator pump helper spring I also use it.

Re: Holley 94 accelerator pump helper spring No harm, just don't leave out the check ball retaining clip.

Re: Holley 94 accelerator pump helper spring I've had a few 94s and never found a spring under the accelerator pump plunger.
