Chickasha Pre-War Swap Meet 2019 Roll Call

Not too long until the Chickasha swap meet. Who all is going, -and whatcha bringing to sell. ...or better yet, what are you looking for to buy? Maybe someone can bring it if they know someone is looking for it.

If I'm not working (this was my first week-end off in over 30 days) I'll be there.
I have some small items I'll bring to sell or swap, but mostly going to see, with cash in hand, if they have anything I want/need for my Model A or my '57 Chevy.

Just to be clear.

I may have the Blue Cabriolet for sale by then. Nice driver, had to bring it up to standards in some areas, just minor details though.

Depends, ...how early? Supposedly the cut-off is 1942 on parts, and it is predominantly a brass-era and Model-T type event however there is some 30's stuff that comes.

There can't be another Chickasha. Legend has it that the town was intended to be named Chickasaw, after the tribe. But the postmaster couldn't spell and the immigrants couldn't read. So the sign over the door of the P.O. came to be pronounced "Chickashay". Rhymes with ricochet, I guess.

I graduated Chickasha H.S. 55 years ago, left town and never went back. Nothing wrong with the town, just worked out that way.

I might roll down there just to scope out the meet, but I have no fond memories. "Go Fightin' Chicks!" Ugh. Embarrassing, really.

Re: Chickasha Pre-War Swap Meet 2019 Roll Call

I have been going to the Chickasha PreWar meet since the first one. If you have never been you need to know that a few vendors start lining up outside the meet starting Wednesday night, with 75% showing up during the day on Thursday. Noone is allowed to enter and setup on the the fairgrounds until 4pm on Thursday. Most buying and selling takes place in the lineup of trucks and trailers outside starting Thursday morning. People are out with flashlights in the dark, before dawn, digging through loads as they arrive. It’s a full blown swap meet with most hot items changing hands in the lineup. After 4pm I make the rounds as everyone is setting up in the evening before dark. Friday morning it starts over with a few more vendors arriving. I head home buy noon to beat rush hour traffic in Dallas. It’s always been worth the trip for me. Coker Tire, Bergs Radiator, Howell sheetmetal, and Ron Kelley are usually there. Ran into Dick Crabtree last year. Mitchell overdrive, Rich Fallucca, and Wiley Higgins in years past to name a few Model A folks.

4port...You sure got that right about the line up.
Some of the best finds/deals are made before the meet even starts up.
I've missed more then I've been to due to work, but I'm retiring this year (Oct-41 yrs), so after this year I should make the early line up every year...:)

I went once. Never again. Drove 785 miles on Thursday-Friday and showed up at the meet on Saturday. Vendors were closing up. I was told that they sold all their good stuff on Wednesday and Thursday before the meet.
They can kiss my Never Again

I'll be in spaces FG17, FG16& FF17 with Model A junk I've been collecting for decades. My doc estimates I have a 10% chance of surviving 20 more months, so selling out while I still can. I plan to prove him wrong, but I can start over then. Stop by.

Regarding Cool Hand Lurker's misfortunate experience: That would have been a bad experience and a big expense and loss of time for you, sorry. I haven't been there for 10 years and at that time there was frenetic trading in the parking lot beginning early Thursday morning. We used to leave from here early Wednesday morning and get there around 6-7:00pm, get a good steak, get up early, get a good breakfast at Best Western and get to the parking lot before it got too full. 'Always had a blast, though it is a lot of work. This year we've been packing and fixing up the trailer for the last four days but didn't reserve a motel early enough and had to get lodging in Anadarko. The forecast is for sunny days with highs of around 50*F. It was mentioned that trading now starts on Wednesday outside the grounds. 'Looking forward to another good time. Where is a good place to eat Friday night?
