Motorcraft Oil Filter FL-14

Have a valve cover mounted oil filter on a 31 Slant.
Has a Motorcraft FL-14 oil filter.
Will a NAPA 1515 fit?

Unable to locate the Motorcraft is a very old number.

Thanks

Must really be an old number, I looked in a 1975 filter catalog and it's not listed.

Are you sure it is not a FL-1A? I am building an engine with that set up and it came with a Motorcraft FL-1A. That is a common filter you can get just about anywhere.

Don't use Fram as they are junk inside. All paper and hot glue.

That doesn't make any sense. How can Fram remain one of the leading filter manufacturers if they sold "JUNK".

They may be leading a leading sales manufacturer but are far from a leading quality producer. They are big because they are cheap and sold by every discount place in the world. I used them as a youngster because my family did but I stopped when the inside collapsed on a race motor many years back. Now Ionly use OEM and Wix. I have used Napa Gold in a pinch in engines I'm not that fussy about.

These are all interchangeable and will work on the after market side cover oil filters for the Model A:

Pennzoil PZ-1
Fram PH8A
AC PF-2, PF-20
Motocraft FL-1A3
Napa 1515
Lee LF-2

Just for the record I use WIX filters. I'm just saying all the problems I have heard about Fram filters were from 15 years ago.

On another auto site several guys with a lot more time than I have cut apart filters from all the manufacturers. You would be amazed at the difference in construction. I'm sure there are dozens maybe hundreds of threads knocking Fram filters. I suppose they do the job, but for a few extra bucks why not buy the best, WIX.

Is it possible it could be a Motorcraft FL144 that was used on Jeep, Willys, Case, Ford, Hudson, Massey? Thought a number 4 may have worn off.

They spend millions in advertising and sponsorship.
If you look up oil filters you will see what a Fram looks like inside.

Re: Motorcraft Oil Filter FL-14

I've used many, many Fram filters over the last 50 years or so and never had a problem w/any of them.

BTW, are Kralinator oil filters still made? If so, does anyone use them?
