Re: oil lines

Aviation supply vendors is where I have seen them. If you cannot find them, consider making them.

I just use sweat-on copper fittings.

Re: oil lines

Jim, I wanted to use steel ones, not copper.I ,m worried about vibration work hardening the copper.
Katy, I want weld in ones not the hydraulic type,
Brent, I will look at an aviation supply co.
Thanks Lawrie

Re: oil lines

Lawrie, long copper lines will crack from vibration but not short, rigid ones or long ones if supported to eliminate movement. I don't think you would have any trouble at all with tees. Many older cars had a small, long copper line to the oil pressure gauge but I never saw one break, doesn't mean they never did, I just never saw a broken one.

Jim, I will look at the copper ones,
But I have an engine in my shop that has a nice pressure feed setup to the mains and it has the steel tees,I cant ask the owner as he didnt build the engine.

Re: oil lines

Swagelok makes all kinds of SS fittings. There should be a local distributor near you.

Swagloc are the screw together type,I need the socket weld fittings,
there will be no room for a screw together fitting.

Re: oil lines

Lawrie, If your steel lines will fit snugly into copper tees, you should be able to sweat them together, copper and steel are both compatible with solder.

Re: oil lines

Jim
I have had a closer look at the tees in the engine,it looks like they are home made,
I have done up a dummy oil line in steel tube and will make my own tees from steel and silver solder them to the 3/8tube.
Will post some pics when done.
thanks Lawrie
