Fordwood.com still in business?

For several weeks I've been trying to get a hold of the people at fordwood.com. They won't respond to my emails and the voicemail on their phone is full. I wanted to buy some wood from them because they sell it by the piece. Anybody have a clue? Thanks.

I also would like to order some piece work. I think they are the only ones that sell by the piece. Anyone know of any others?

There must be a whole lot of cars that are getting wood as the wood ordered from Snyders (Classic ) is taking 3+ months.

Try Classic Wood Manufacturing in Raleigh NC. 336-691-1344. I think they will sell individual pieces.

I like Classic Wood and as others think they would sell an individual piece. You could contact Snyder's. I understand they make some of their own wood and if it happens to be what you need, they might make/sell and individual piece.

Snyders does not sell individual pieces (at least for a Vicky) and I asked about if they know of anyone that sells individual pieces and they could not help me. This is not a dig it's just what they said.

Mike,
Classic Wood in Greensboro , NC makes the wood kits but, they will not sell individual pieces.
Thank you!

If it's just one piece, I'd try a local cabinet maker or custom wood shop. It's not that hard really. I made many pieces of body wood myself for my 4dr Town Sedan. Many people have told me that the Town Sedan is the most difficult to make wood for. Normally, you'd use Ash, but I even made a few pieces from old pallet wood.

I have purchased several pieces from Steve cannon.
He will sell individual pieces.
Give him a call. The pieces I needed were for my Vicky.

Interesting, Snyders stated to me that classic wood does not sell seperate pieces? (see my post above) Wonder if that was a ploy to buy a whole kit from them as they use Classic wood (Steve Cannon) for the kits they sell.

Re: Fordwood.com still in business?

When i got my Vicky it was missing several pieces of wood. I asked Steve if he had them and he said yes and . I gave him my credit card and he shippedthe parts I needed. I placed several orders this way as I discovered the parts I was missing.
Worth a try to ask him.

I asked the guys from classic Woods NC at Hershey a couple yrs ago if they would sell separate pieces and they said yes. I made every piece for my Leatherback from ash and oak for the floor frames. Takes a lot of time but individual piece hear and there would not be bad if you HAD to. Bill G

Re: Fordwood.com still in business?

I had a lumber yard make me some for a '29 roadster because my replacement body sills were tack-welded (gasp) and some original body blocks were originally tapered to clear body rivets. I didn 't know whether that created a significant support issue or not so I just had new ones made.

A friend of mine bought a bunch of wood pieces from Fordwood.com a little over a year ago for his 1930 Town Sedan. He needed pieces from the rear doors back and one of the door pieces came with the window regulator gear slot cut wrong. They initially told him that they would replace it. Well, here we are almost a year later and they don't return calls or emails. I too wonder what happened to them.

Re: Fordwood.com still in business?

I tried years ago with fordwood and they did not make the wood kit for the 180A. I did wind up using classic wood and did buy door wood and a subrail which i did not use. Their wood did need some trimming [on the door wood] too fat and pushed the door panels out . Jim Antoni of IL.[1-847-698-2637] is making the complete 180A wood that fits. If you have the wood part needed to replace believe me he can make it. .

I am also interested in what has happened to Ford Wood. I have been trying to contact them for three weeks.

Classic wood is having it's problems as well, every month it's another 2 weeks. I finally have the money and need more wood but no one seems to be making any.

I went a head and ordered from classic. He said it would take 5 months to get it. :(

Has anyone had any contact with fordwood in the last 4 weeks?

Re: Fordwood.com still in business?

Doesn't sound like it. They have vanished into the same black hole as Brumfield heads :) they still have an excellent website up with great diagrams on what all the wood kits look like. Classic lets you order by the piece and was actually a little cheaper on some of the pieces.
