A friend of mine in the antique tractor hobby uses E-85 to free stuck engines and parts.

I put used diesel oil in my A that sat since 1971, it took about 3 weeks to free up. make sure you take the carb and exhaust off. after that it fired up and ran great.:)

I think that Coke A Cola has the same issues as vinegar, might work OK but not is this application.

Mind you the pistons may not be the stuck culprets as it could be the valve train.

I have not seen if this has been checked yet. I would do as Purdy suggests and there is always the possibility of a jammed bendix, with one stone - 2 birds checked

Re: stuck 30

I'd pull the starter and use the tool that Tom W posted in a previous thread. I have made two of these and they have been used to easily free up many motors. If the valves are really stuck hard, it can wreck the timing gear, but for what soaking can do, this unit works immediately. Parts vendors now sell a version of this tool, but one can be made from an old starter easily.

Re: stuck 30

If one valve is stuck closed a person should easily be able to turn the engine backwards from one side of the cam lobe to the other and the engine would stop turning. The engine really only needs to turn backwards just a little bit to show that the problem is a stuck valve . I would never use turning force to unstick a valve .

Also will need add'l suggestions after the following procedures,head is removed,all rod caps slightly loosen up, trans and clutch are out ;
3 weeks soaking the top of the pistons/cylinder walls with Kroil then followed by 4 weeks soaking with mixture 50 % ATF and 50 % Acetone plus using the hand-crank about 3 to 4 times a week and still no movement. NOW WHAT ???:(:confused:

I am confused. Are we talking about the same engine? [email protected] - OP and
shookie post #28. The 2 posts appear to be different engines and went from Sr. member to Jr. member.

At any rate if the rod caps are loose one cylinder would be stuck at exactly TDC
(odds against) for the crankshaft to not move at all, the crank should turn CCW or CW slightly or something else is stuck.

Put a jack under the crank and let the weight of the car sit on it for a week or 2 or 3 or......
