1941 Ford Car Torque Tube I’m in need of a torque tube with drive shaft for a 1941 Ford Super Deluxe Car
Question is are the torque tubes and drive shaft from a 39 or 40 the same as 41? |
Re: 1941 Ford Car Torque Tube No. 41 is kinda by itself. Tube is longer then a 40 but the rear is narrow like a 40
|
Re: 1941 Ford Car Torque Tube Thank you - that’s what I suspected , another 41 unique bit
|
Re: 1941 Ford Car Torque Tube I got one but the shipping would be a lot
|
Re: 1941 Ford Car Torque Tube whats the problem? dont have one? drive shaft front bearing surface bad? not much to go wrong with the tube.
|
Re: 1941 Ford Car Torque Tube Yes, I’m in need of one for a build. I need to get it to Nashville Tennessee this

Re: 1941 Ford Car Torque Tube Can someone post the measurements of a 1941 Only tube?
|
Re: 1941 Ford Car Torque Tube I get 6 foot , end to end
|
Re: 1941 Ford Car Torque Tube Not sure but they may be the same torque tube from '41 to '48? The axles and side housings are shorter but I think the torque tubes are the same length.
|
Re: 1941 Ford Car Torque Tube '41-'48 is the same length shaft/tube.
|
Re: 1941 Ford Car Torque Tube The rear radius rods are different from 42 to 48 because the rear is narrower, but is the lug on the torque tube in the same location on a 41 from a 42 to 48?
I thought the 42 to 48 outer torque tube has a different shape then a 41 |
Re: 1941 Ford Car Torque Tube the late radius rods, 42-48, are quite a bit shorter than the 37 40, dont know about 41 but the mounting lug on the tube would certainly be different.

Re: 1941 Ford Car Torque Tube The '41 lug for the radius rods is in a different location than '42-'48
This may be incorrect as the parts book lists the same p/n from 41-48. |
Re: 1941 Ford Car Torque Tube After some digging, in the 1938-41 Ford chassis parts book it lists the torque tube for a 1941 as a 11A-4504 (1941 Ford, and Mercury) in the 1928-48 book it lists the tube as a 6A-4504 (1941-48). So, there was a change in design but apparently not enough that the 1946-48 tube couldn't be used on a 1941..
The radius rods are definately one year only on 1941's (fords at least). Lastly, the 1941 axle housings are one year only.. Could someone with a 1941 measure from the rear of the Torque tube to the center of the lug for the radius rod mount and also from the back of the torque tube to the brake line bracket? I am curious as to the difference in the 11A and the 6A tube.. |
Re: 1941 Ford Car Torque Tube I have 1 '41 rear axel assy in the shop but access to the rear of the torque tube is hard to do.
From end of bell to center of radius rod bolt is 39 3/4" to flat of brake brkt. is 27 1/4" |
