Maxxis tires

I have been looking for small 16" tires for the front of my AV8 project. Most are quite expensive but I just noticed that Coker has Maxxis Taxi 175R16 tires for much less. They appear to be made for British taxis. They are about the same size as 550R16. Has anybody here used these?

Re: Maxxis tires

The taxi tyres are 175r16 not 175-75R16 so will be taller than your tyres, Brian.
If no aspect number is quoted they should be an 82 profile.
The 175R16 (175-82R16) should be 27.4" diameter.
A 175-75R16 should be 26.3" diameter.
A 550-16 should be 27" diameter.
A 600-16 should be 28" diameter.
So they are actually somewhere in between a 5.50 and a 6.00-16.
Hope this helps.
Mart.

Re: Maxxis tires

The previous Version aci tires from m Coker were the Austones and I have been running them in the front of my roadster since 2016. They are an excellent tire and the smaller tire size is great for the fronts. I can tell you they can take the punishment and ride well. I heard about the Maxxis tires at Fall Carlisle at the Universal Tire booth and I was happy that hear that they were available after the Austones were discontinued. If they are anywhere near as good as the Austones, that would be great. Time will tell ....

I have Maxxis brand tires on our camper. I believe they are made in Taiwan, I was trying to avoid the china bombs and goodyear hadn't started making rv tires at the time. So far seem ok.
