30-31 Dash Light Hi,
I am looking for an original dash light for a 1931 closed pickup. I am told the repros are not very good. Does anyone have any experience with the repros? Does anyone have a nice original for sale? Thanks, Dave |
Re: 30-31 Dash Light My 31 pickup has a repro. It works fine, but the switch is a pain to use. I wired it into the tail light circuit instead of the ammeter. Now it comes on whenever the tail lights are on. No need to use the switch.

Re: 30-31 Dash Light The original 1930-'31 dash light was just a tiny bit better in quality then the repro.

Re: 30-31 Dash Light I've been on a list at the two main vendors for months to get a repro. Has anyone purchased one lately?

Re: 30-31 Dash Light Check out the following: https://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/s...A&searcht=dash scroll down and notice there are two versions listed one of which is still available. I purchased the open one, and when it arrived I have so far been unable to see what makes this unworkable for my '31 coupe especially since I also wired it to the car's lights.

Re: 30-31 Dash Light When I installed my re-pop it functioned fine. How often do you drive at night??

Re: 30-31 Dash Light I seldom drive at night yet enough to need a thoroughly tested headlight/tail light system that includes a fully functional turn signals (that have enough modern-day CP to really light up the road) I also have a 3rd brake light that also functions as part of the turn signals.

Re: 30-31 Dash Light I recently ordered a '31 dash light from Snyders. I still have the original light that is original and came with the car, but the wiring and electrical are obviously in dire need of repair/restoration. When I had the plating done for this latest project, I also had the original cover re-plated. When I got the new switch, I swapped it with the new cover, but frankly was unable to tell any difference. For the price, and if you are not building a "points car", I would have no problem recommending that you consider a new switch.
