Never seen this happen before! A friend was on a T tour in Indiana last week and had this happen. When it happened the car seemed like it had a broken drive shaft. No power was getting to the wheels, and no brakes.
Note - Woody is known for having weird, bizarre things happen to him. For example, as a child he once broke an anvil in half in the sandbox without any tools. Anyways here are the photos. Woody is the president of the two piece hub club. http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/1...piece-hub2.jpg http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/1...piece-hub1.jpg |
Re: Never seen this happen before! Strange! Looks like there was just enough gripping to keep the wheel in action for a while anyway.

Re: Never seen this happen before! I would guess that wheel wasn't the straightest running down the road.

Re: Never seen this happen before! I'd make the dealer replace it.:p

Re: Never seen this happen before! You are right, I have never seen or heard of this one. We are running around on 100 year
old stuff, makes you think. No if I think about it I won't drive it so no thinking...... |
Re: Never seen this happen before! We had a fellow from Oregon in a '23 Runabout who's rear hub broke the same way on the first day on the National Tour in Olympia, WA in 2000 - I loaded up his rear wheel and ran back to my shop about an hour away, disassembled the wheel, replaced his hub and they ran the rest of the tour that week - this is only the second hub I've ever heard of breaking like that !

Re: Never seen this happen before! Royce,
I saw the exact same thing about four years ago on a local tour. The engine ran - The Transmission engaged - But she no-go. The center just spun in the wheel. Fortunately we were just leaving a planned rest stop and the car wouldn't resume on the tour. It rode the trailer home. Be_Zero_Be |
