Yeah, I use this setup. Read the 'CROSS SHAFT' thread just above your thread now. That will give you some good info, IMO. |
Re: Snyder's new brake pedal return spring 1 Attachment(s)
Isn't that the same hook & spring set-up that they have always had?

The clutch is already plenty hard to push down. |

Re: Snyder's new brake pedal return spring It was a "new" item to me, and certainly was not the stock setup. I fought for half and hour and couldn't get ithooked to the motor mount, but that is just me.
|
Re: Snyder's new brake pedal return spring I had the same problem.
|
Re: Snyder's new brake pedal return spring I've had a version of it for a number of years, apparently of an earlier design, because it was not that difficult to hook the spring to the motor mount,
|
Re: Snyder's new brake pedal return spring Use a long screwdriver to hook the spring on the motor mount. I fought it a bit, until I got a long screwdriver and slid the spring down to the end of the screwdriver. Went on in 10 seconds.

Re: Snyder's new brake pedal return spring It looks just like the spring setup that has been offered by many suppliers for many years but isn't original equipment. If the service brake cross shaft and brake rods are setup correct, the pedal will always return and you will have brakes that you didn't know that you had. Setup is a major part of having really good brakes .

Re: Snyder's new brake pedal return spring I use Model A2455ACC from MACīs. It is very useful

Re: Snyder's new brake pedal return spring It is easy to hook to the frame if you put a stiff S hook on the end of the spring. It may not be original but it is better than a dead battery if your pedal doesn't always return quite far enough.

Re: Snyder's new brake pedal return spring I put one on a few weeks ago, works great. Brake light no longer stays on.
|
Re: Snyder's new brake pedal return spring Put 1 on my 29 model A rat rod. Used brake spring pliers, went on easy.
|
Re: Snyder's new brake pedal return spring I used one and my light still stays on sometimes.
Hi Jwilli. Welcome to the Fordbarn. |
Re: Snyder's new brake pedal return spring Better to just fix your brakes properly and get the high quality brake light switch from A&L with the brass bushings and be done with it. JMO. :D
|
Re: Snyder's new brake pedal return spring If the slack is taken up in all of the service brake rods and the pedal rod so that the clevis pins will just enter the brake levers and brake pedal , the pedel will rise every time on its own. I'm sure the A&L brake light switch is good, the other repro switches usually don't work right out of the box .

Re: Snyder's new brake pedal return spring the return spring is a band aide fix to compensate for other issues
