Clutch adjust.

Hi All,
Any tips or hints on how to go about adjusting the clutch on a 47 Ford v/8 flathead passenger car ?

Thanks in advance for any info.

you want about an inch, to inch ana half of free travel before you feel the pedal hit the pressure plate. to get this, get under the car, pull on the clutch pedal to study the way it works, then remove the pin on the fork so you can turn it which ever way in needs to go to get proper free travel at the pedal. sort of a generic how to as i am not a 47 guy, but most all cars are similar, just study how it works

There is a clevis attached to the clutch mechanism. You want to undo the pieces that will allow you to move the clevis on the threaded rod. This is the adjustment. It can be difficult to reach from the bottom. If needed, the front floorboard can be removed to greatly improve access.

Do it from beneath if at all possible, because if you do it from the top with the floorboard out, you are not exactly sure where the pedal stops when coming back up. You should have an oval shaped rubber cushion around the pedal arm to seal the hole in the floorboard that the pedal goes through.
