28-29 Phaeton Hello all. I have a 27 model t phaeton or touring, looking for something a little bigger. I cant find any locally to look at but wondering if a 28-29 would be noticeably bigger?

Re: 28-29 Phaeton Yes it will be larger and more powerful.

Re: 28-29 Phaeton with the 28-29 you still get some of the T charm and looks, but yes, as deco said, more power, easier to drive and loads more fun. definitely a worthwhile upgrade.

Re: 28-29 Phaeton Also, other than the station wagons and buses I believe the 28/29 phaetons have more interior space than any other production Model A.

Re: 28-29 Phaeton I love my phaeton, it has room for two adults and two grandkids in the backseat.
The disadvantage is you have to watch the rainclouds! |
Re: 28-29 Phaeton Thank you to everyone that replied, looks like I may be looking for a Phaeton!

Re: 28-29 Phaeton really? I thought 30/31 was bigger and that 27/8/9 were the same?

I have not really compared the overall interior space of the phaeton to other cars, but if it has 'extra' space, it is all in the back seat and not the front. The rear has plenty of room to spare but the front is quite cozy. Once you are in the car it is not bad, but getting in and out of the tiny doors is the challenge. If I were to do it again, I would go for the '30-'31. |
Re: 28-29 Phaeton Can't comment on the 28/29 Phaeton but I've driven a 30 and it had less room up front and much tighter doors than my 30 Fordor. Seems typical for most A's that the real room is in the rear seat.

Re: 28-29 Phaeton The '28 - '29 phaetons have only slightly more front seat leg room than that of the '28-'29 roadsters. Neither is quite as large as that of the '30-'31 models. I would imagine that having a fixed front seat, that they could possibly be compared to a '28 leather back station wagon or perhaps a station wagon with the same fixed seat set-up. The back seat area is a totally different matter. When our children were small, we would put suit cases in the rear floor, and with a couple of blankets, they were able to stretch out and take naps in between stops. Of course, that was 30+ years ago, and before the current mandates of seat belts and child car seats. Rather than seat belts, I think that most new cars then came with a "get well soon" card in the glove compartment.

Re: 28-29 Phaeton It would be an upgrade but they are getting harder to find and are quite expensive if you find a nice one.
