Customers unit for test only. Unit was so dry my distributor machine didnt want to turn it , points are oxidized from setting etc.
Clean , lube with Mobil 1 wheel bearing grease and Marvel oil , brass brush with dremel on contacts , polish with dollar bill. Lube dry leather vac brake and lube then reassemble and run for some time on tester .....works prefect !!!!!!!!!

Jim, I remember watching you lube my crab distributor when you were testing it for me. Maintenance manual suggests cam lobes should be lubricated fall and spring with original points setup. I've got a Pertonix kit, any periodic lubrication I should be performing?

Finally got it figured out (thanks to you ), as a trainer for Allen Testproducts and then Linder Fuel Injection i always used the biggest slide view i could get for better explanation. Hated those little unclear pics some trainers used .....

the pertronix doesnt have a load on the cam so its more than likely lube free.....

Do you suggest removing the end plug and soaking the felt periodically ? also what is the best lube for the shaft felt wicking?

Used to do it to all we built, then after a few hundred decided it was more trouble than its worth. The orginal design seems to work forever. I lube the bushing very well and when removing the plug i used Marvel Mystery oil.....Seems to work very well and i have some out there with some heavy miles on them.....:D
