Optima 6V batteries production I inquired to Optima Customer Service about production of the red top 6V battery line, For those that dont use them this is a mute point.
Optima Customer Service I understand you may be discontinuing the 6V battery line is this true? We are with the Antique Automobile Club of America and also The Early Ford V-8 Club. We utilize your batteries in our antique cars. We need you to continue to offer you batteries to keep our Hobby alive. Thanks for listening. Sincerely, Craig Calwhite Optima Customer Service Replied, Hello Craig, Thank you for contacting Optima Customer Support. Wonder if it's because of too many 'siesta' breaks ? :):D (made in Mexico) |
Re: Optima 6V batteries production Hope they're not coming from Grants Pass, OR.
Re: Optima 6V batteries production If they are part of a trade embargo then they might be on back order for a while.

Re: Optima 6V batteries production Sorry to jump on this thread but does anyone know if I need to put new red top on battery tender for the winter? Thanks Dave/Green Bay
Re: Optima 6V batteries production All my red tops are on a tender except when the car is being driven.
Re: Optima 6V batteries production I I noticed they are back on amazon today
Re: Optima 6V batteries production Thanks duce_roadster. Will hook it it up Dave/Green Bay

Re: Optima 6V batteries production After reading all the raving about the Optima batteries, I decided I had to have one but my 7 year old wet cell "Batteries R Us" won't quit. It is kind of like me, at 86 I won't quit so my 35 will go to the younger generation.
Re: Optima 6V batteries production Dave, Red tops don't self discharge. A good Red Top will stay charged, and in fact will be better off not on a tender during the winter. They must also be charged at a slow rate, never a quick charge. Just disconnect one post, and keep it out of the weather.

Re: Optima 6V batteries production Are they really worth $200? I can buy a bunch of lead acid batteries for that much.
Re: Optima 6V batteries production They are worth it, yes. Your bunch of lead acid batteries will each damage your car with acid vapor as they charge. The Optima doesn't normally outgas beyond the mat.
Re: Optima 6V batteries production Optima will possibly outlast lead acid battery 4 to 1 or longer
Optima also has 800 cca which is waaaaaayyyyy more than lead acid it can sit for 6 months & still spin your flatty over like a 12v until it sucks gas all way from tank to carb. A feature not possible that I have seen with a 6v lead acid |
